STAYING SAFE ONLINE

The dangers of cyberspace

1 in 3 children report to having been bullied in cyberspace, whether that be on Social Networks, Club Websites or text messaging.

Similarily, 1 in 5 adults report to the same.

If you run a Club Website, please ensure some of the following.

No player profiles of players under the age of 18.

No names next to team photographs that can help identify an individual.

No list of contact numbers for under 18's.

No chat room unless the Club have an appointed Webmaster and moderator to regularly check the content.

It is recommended that coaches do not give out their numbers or e-mail addresses to young players, they can always communicate through parents/carers.

Likewise, coaches are asked not to accept players as friends on social networks.
