Groundsman of the Year Awards

The Groundsman of the Year competition for 2011/12 is about to get underway with a number of changes from last years competitions. Nomination forms can be found in the related documents and there is an additional prize of £500 for clubs at step 5 & 6

The inspections and final judging is delegated to a small working group of council members who visit grounds following the nomination of a particular groundsman or groundswoman.

Nominations can be made by council members, clubs, leagues or any individual involved in football and it is important to stress that we are not only considering  the skills of a particular person in producing a good football pitch but how they use the resources available to them to the best effect.

There are currently 2 competitions where entries are accepted. One group relates to clubs at step 5 or 6 and the other involves step 7 and below (local football). The latter group has the added attraction of being linked with the Football Associations "groundsman of the year competition, where the Berks & Bucks winner will go forward as our national representative and be judged with other winner from different parts of the country.

In recognition of the high profile of both the local and national competitions, Berks & Bucks FA are this season awarding prizes of £500 each towards the cost of grounds maintenance equipment to the winner of our own step 5/6 competition and the step 7 and below competition.

In both of our competitions, the winners, runners up and third place each receive an authenticated certificate of commendation.

We are keen to receive as many entries as possible this season so if you have anyone you wish to nominated please just complete the nomination form in the related documents.
