Berks and Bucks FA - developing football for everyone
About Us - promoting local football

Paul Backman

Football Development Officer

About My Role

My role here at Berks & Bucks FA is a generic football development role. This means that I am here to support all the development needs of clubs across the area including charter standard, facilities, funding and anything else you can think of!! Also I have a couple of areas that I specifically look after including volunteering and the adult 11 v 11 game. I want to do as much as I can to support the recruitment and development of volunteers to help sustain the clubs across our county.

The 11 v 11 game is an area which is very close to my heart as I, like many others, have been one of those guys who would like to get back playing but for a multitude of reasons have struggled to do so. My role here is to support adult clubs and players to stay in the game and encourage more players to get involved. This has led to the creation of a number of leagues which we hope can help to drive the national game forward.

About Me

I am a big football fan and support the mighty Arsenal (no comments please!!) I have been involved in football all my life, playing youth football until 16 and now play for my local side.

I went to university in High Wycombe where I studied Sports Management & Football studies for 3 years. During this time I also worked in Sports Development for a local authority over in Hertfordshire where I am originally from.

I started here nearly 4 years ago and live locally. I have hugely enjoyed working with the local clubs and the job has led me to meet some truly dedicated football people.
